About Me

Paul
Leaf

My name is Paul and all you really need to know about me is that I am a person just like you. I have had problems and I have suffered. I understand the feelings of loneliness, confusion, pain and despair that we experience when we suffer. I feel a great compassion for all people and this inspires me to want to help people in their suffering. I feel that counselling gives me that opportunity, because I have seen the positive impact that it can have on people’s lives.

I am a fully qualified counsellor with 4 years of counselling training. I have experience of working with a range of different people, each facing their own unique problems.

About Counselling

The act of talking to a trusted person, or “seeking counsel”, about our problems has been a characteristic of human beings throughout our history. People have always turned to tribal elders, community leaders, religious and spiritual followers, philosophers and medical practitioners, at difficult times in their lives.

Edmund Spenser quote

Counselling, in its recognised form today, has been practiced for over a hundred years and a great deal of research has been carried out in this time, which consistently shows that counselling is effective at reducing psychological distress.

My approach to counselling closely follows the Person-Centred approach. This is a non-directive approach that centres around the therapeutic relationship. The therapeutic relationship is unique because the focus is entirely on you.

My role is to listen to you, to support you and be alongside you. We will work together to explore your problems and discover what it is that you need to live the life you want.

I am committed to the ethical values of honesty, integrity and responsibility. When you contact me, you can trust me to give you my full attention and to always act with your best interests at heart.
